This is my first blog for the year, and I will like to happy new year to Bebo Nigeria partners. Know that if you're reading this post you're our partner, if you're a farmer, you're our partner, if you're investing or supporting the mission of Bebo Nigeria, you're our partner, if you're thinking of going into agriculture, you're our partner.

In this post, I will like to discuss some positive trends in the Agricultural Sector in the country, which will possibly increase food production and also encourage more engagement in the sector.

I am quite sure 2019 delivered a lot of positivity for farmers in Nigeria, 2019 was a year where farmers were proud to be called farmers, it is no longer poor people going into farming, this is due to the tremendous and impactful policy from

government to drive economic growth through agriculture. One thing that we should all understand is that 2020 stands to be a year to expect more growth and positivity in agriculture, there will be more impactful policies coming from the government to redirect the narrative of agriculture in Nigeria, More FDI coming into agriculture, and more lending opportunity will be provided for farmers, believe me, 2020 will an excellent year for farmers if you are still thinking of going into farming, you had better think fast and act fast. Innovations and modern method of agriculture is erupting in Nigeria, and there are many ways you can be a farmer without actually owning a farm nor having technical knowledge of running a farm, shelve that old mentality that farmers are those dirty poor people who use hoes and cutlass to till the ground, it is impossible to be still thinking in that way in this country at this time, it must be you that has a problem with your mindset.

Another thing to note in this 2020 is that more farmers will make millions; you can also make millions through farming and keep your 9-5 Jobs, there is no excuse for you.

Now to the main discuss!

Agriculture can be view in all as the engine that controls the Nigeria Economy; whatever goes on in this sector will determine the direction of the economy. With what has happened in 2019 and the achievement in agriculture, 2020 will see more people coming into agriculture, it will attract more people, from those who want to cash on the opportunity to those who wish to delve into agriculture fully, many young graduates both employed and unemployed will be absolved into agriculture, it will be great and rewarding because they will bring their agility into the industries where these young farmers will chart new direction.

Many farmers household incomes will increase to a great extent, and debt will be paid, there will be significant expansions of farms that are small scale into large scale farm due to increase access to funds, more Jobs will be created through agriculture.

You will all agree with me that one of the significant reasons for sporadic policy on agriculture by this present administration is to increase food production, accessibility, and safety; this is their primary concern. Farmers need to be aware in increasing food production there be a high safety standard for food production where contamination of their products will be highly limited; ignoring this can lead to severe losses to farmers and also affect the government, not only the government but also the consumers. I will even advise the government in the 2020 and coming years there should be more regulations on food production because more people will come into agriculture to make quick cash without considering whether their products is safe for consumption or not. If this multitude of people floating into agriculture is not well managed and controlled, there will face a severe backlash.

More investors will come into agriculture, where there will be an excellent support for farmers, apart from government support, I will advise farmers to brace themselves up for these opportunities that will crop up in Nigeria.

There will be a significant shift in 2020 and coming years where Agritech startups in Nigeria will begin to meet the needs of the consumer in a new way, softening the ground for low-cost agricultural products due to the eruption in the digital economy of Nigeria.

Also, agricultural financing will take another softer shape where fin-tech innovations in Nigeria will disrupting the lending process and back more farmers, and insurance will be provided for farmers.

In 2020, the government will consolidate its policy to boost and make agriculture attractive in Nigeria.

In 2020, Bebo Nigeria will consolidate on its effort in Integrating and connecting small scale farmers in Nigeria.
